Dear WIOA Administrator,

Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA), Title II: Adult Education Family Literacy Act (AEFLA) 2021–22

The Adult Education Office (AEO) has received clarifying information related to Assembly Bill (AB) 130 Education finance: education omnibus budget trailer bill which made changes to the requirements for Independent Study programs. The clarification from the Department of Finance and the state administration is that the intent of the Legislature was NOT to require these changes for Independent Study for Adult Education programs or Adults in Correctional Facilities (AICF).

Only two days left to register! This is a reminder to register for the New Administrator Orientation (NAO), especially if you have been in your position for less than three years. The NAO is scheduled to take place over a two-week period in September. Use this link to complete the registration by this Friday, August 27, 2021. https://forms.gle/9ZE5MD7XNv4E1CtM6

Grant Budgets are due to the California Department of Education by next Friday, September 3, 2021. The online budget application is open to any agency that has uploaded their Grant Award Notification (GAN) electronically within the reporting site, and after review, had the file status marked ‘accepted’. To date, not all agencies have uploaded a GAN and the due date was August 20, 2021. If your agency needs additional time to obtain board approvals before your GAN or budget may be submitted, please contact your CDE Fiscal Analyst to request an extension. Agency specific due date extensions are reflected on the WIOA Dashboard.

OAR Admins are encouraged to remind their reporting site users, and especially those with the Approver role, to finalize their new logins accounts by setting up a password. The process takes less two minutes. To assist with this process, OAR Admins may choose to resend a welcome email to users that have not yet logged in. A user guide is available in the Resources section of the reporting site to assist users assigned to this role.
